The sour milk will be fine (as will milk, period), but the bread may have a slightly different flavor (though not bad in any way). I bake a lot, including 18th c. bread for a reenacting unit we're in. We served it with a pot roast as that sounded colonial to me (though it probably isn't). My 2 yr old couldn't wait to eat some of the bread for breakfast the following morning.Katrinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15944598643564698026noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7864168283064539221.post-78323398115412239812011-01-04T14:15:30.487-08:002011-01-04T14:15:30.487-08:00I don't know for sure, but I don't see why...I don't know for sure, but I don't see why not. The brown bread recipe I have (that I used to make years ago) was much, much more complicated (it involved raisins, a coffee can, and steaming in the oven, if I remember right). This one looks easy and fun!

Is sour milk an okay substitution? I don't have buttermilk on hand just now.Erin Manninghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01321137500437209970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7864168283064539221.post-33367724934688394142011-01-04T06:49:35.871-08:002011-01-04T06:49:35.871-08:00One of our family's favorite! One of our family's favorite!Moniquehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05184898469315867290noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7864168283064539221.post-52737430882730872342011-01-03T15:41:21.148-08:002011-01-03T15:41:21.148-08:00Sounds perfect, Charlotte!
